Over 20 years of experience training and teaching in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Muay Thai, Boxing, and JKD
Began training Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in 2004 under World Jiu-Jitsu Champion Helio Soneca
Promoted to Black Belt by Helio Soneca in 2014, his first ever Female Black Belt making her one of the first ever Female Black Belts in the state of Alabama
Spent years training Jeet Kun Do, Boxing, Muay Thai, and Escrima under the legendary Richard Bustillo of the famed IMB Academy in Carson, CA
It was Richard Bustillo who nicknamed her “Maverick”
Received both her 1st and 2nd Degrees on her Black Belt from Multiple Time Jiu-Jitsu and Submission Grappling World Champion Andre Galvao
Spent many years coaching MMA as well as winning various Regional Title Belts

Over 15 years of experience training Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Muay Thai

Spent years learning under World Jiu-Jitsu Champion Samuel Braga, living with him to train full-time over school breaks in High School and College

Accomplished Competitive Grappler with Championships across IBJJF Pro Events, IBJJF Opens, and Black Belt Super fights in both Gi and No Gi

Moved back home to Huntsville in 2017 and resumed training here at Maverick

Began training Jiu-Jitsu and Muay Thai here at Maverick at age 15
Spent three months living and training Muay Thai in Thailand after High School
Moved to Philadelphia and continued his training there where he focused primarily on Jiu-Jitsu
Promoted to Black Belt by Professor Jared Weiner in 2019
Moved back to Huntsville in 2020 and resumed training here at Maverick

Started Jiu-Jitsu in college where he trained off and on for two years at his University Gym
Moved to Huntsville in 2012 where he started at Maverick and took his Jiu-Jitsu more seriously
Received his Brown Belt in 2018 from Professor Suzanne Ramsden
Experienced competitor in the lower belts with State Championship Gold Medals
Promoted to Black belt by Professor Andre Galvao in 2023

Originally started Jiu-Jitsu in 2015 after years watching his son train and fell in love with the art

Began training Jiu-JItsu in 2022 after watching his son and daughter on the mat here at Maverick
Joined the Marine Corps in 2008 and spent 6 years training in combative, grappling, etc.
Coach David serves on multiple volunteer boards and panels to promote leadership, mentorship, & service throughout the North Alabama Community
